A special application of FDRA in ultra⁃long optical communication system

摘  要:在光通信传输系统中前向泵浦拉曼光纤放大器(FDRA)一般仅用于后向泵浦拉曼光纤放大器(BDRA)的补充,因为在同等泵浦功率下其对光信噪比的提升效果不如BDRA。针对目前FDRA的局限性,文中提出了FDRA的一种特殊用法,即在单波长超长距光通信系统中提高名义受激布里渊散射阈值,从而提升这类SBS受限光通信系统的传输距离。研究结果表明,这种方法可以在原有基础上将系统最大传输距离提升10 km以上,并无需借助BDRA。文中基于实际测试系统参数,建立了FDRA作用下的信号光在光纤中传输的数值仿真模型,验证了FDRA对单波长超长距SBS受限光通信系统无电中继最大跨距的提升作用。

Forward⁃pumped Distributed Raman Amplifiers(FDRA)is used as assistance of BDRA due to their insufficient improvement of OSNR in optical communication systems.For the limitation of FDRA,a special application of FDRA is introduced in this work,which is used independently to improve the nominal SBS threshold,and the distance of the single⁃wavelength optical communication systems restricted by the SBS threshold is improved consequently.The result of our research indicated an improvement of the maximum distance for the optical communication system for over 10 km without the help of BDRA.The signal transmission in fiber with the amplification of FDRA is simulated based on the real test system,and verified the enhancement of FDRA to the maximum distance of single⁃span optical communication systems based on the improvement of nominal SBS threshold.
